Estate Master Plan

'Airlie Retreat' has been master planned in recognition of the unique topography of the site. All major water courses have been maintained in their natural state along with significant margins of rainforest vegetation, both along side the water courses and in open space and tree retention zones.

The estate contains thirteen (13) precincts with each precinct buffered from the adjoining with natural vegetation and or gully systems.

St. Bees Boulevard, the main internal road, has been designed so that minimal earthworks are required and major significant trees are avoided.

Approximately 30% of the site is being retained in its natural state.

Rehabilitation:

Existing natural landscapes which are unavoidably disturbed to provide for services infrastructure, detention basins and bridge structures will be extensively rehabilitated using plant species native to the local ecosystem and forest mulch derived from the reduction of cleared vegetation.

The screening of original top soil produced ample good quality top soil for spreading over the building allotments and sufficient quantity of cobbles which were used in backfill to low height boulder retaining walls.

Streetscaping:

Tree species used in decorative planting to road verges are only those species which were originally found on the site i.e. tulip wood, crows ash and Mackay cedar.
